  2. Hello, I can restore the C-500. They are very similar to a Phase Linear 700 - brute force linear power supply and gobs of output transistors. Restoration includes cleaning inside and out, replacement of consumable parts, upgraded components where appropriate, calibration and testing. 3 year parts and labor warranty. $400 + shipping.

  4. I haven't seen any restoration info on the Carver C-500 power amp, any recommendations?
  5. Can't wait to send my C1 in for service. Love my Carver gear!
  6. Thanks @RobA! Welcome to the forums!
  7. It took me awhile to get here but hey, I am here. Excellent work on the MXR-150 back in April Greg. Still working great and the little scratchy sound in the tape knob is completely gone. But the new car smell is gone. LOL
  8. I have two M500t amps, and had both restored by someone I found on eBay. I had major/minor problems with both, so I sent them to Greg to look at. Greg opened them and sent me photos of what he found, and it's clear that someone who does not know electronics can be taken advantage of, as I was to some degree. So, bite the bullet and get your amp done right, by Greg, the first time. You'll save yourself a lot of time and money. Looking at the attached "before and after" photo, even to my inexperienced eye I can clearly see the difference between the "'eBay build" and Greg's workmanship. The amps sound fantastic, and I look forward to many years of enjoyment with them.

    M1.5 and C3

I have had. A Carver 1.5 and C3 for 25 years. Something quit on it and I stuck it away until a few months ago. I contacted Greg at Nelion Audio about repairing these. While his reviews were excellent, I was still hesitant to send these to someone 1000 miles away. Gathering dust in my attic wasn't getting me anywhere either. I finally shipped them to Greg. They came back to me in less time than he quoted, even though he had some issues with his barn burning down. All I can say is if you are procrastinating, STOP! I had forgotten how good music can sound. I have these in my shop and I find my self standing in front of the speaker's, just listening. Greg was very professional. Equipment was packaged well and delivered prior to the agrred upon date. I can't say that it sounds better, only because it has been so long since I had it working. But I can say it sounds amazing!
  13. Hey @Bobby1970! Welcome!
  14. Hi All! Greetings from the Philippines. Thanks Greg and Jenny!
  15. The Matsushita's are obsolete. These two relays are direct crossovers: Panasonic JC2AJ-B-DC24V OMRON G4W-2212P-US-TV5 That's all I've found so far. The relay specs are: 24VDC coil, 7A contact, 2 Form A, PCB mount Mouser and Digikey never seem to provide any crossover information. It's a shame.
  16. FYI - we do have some OEM fan motors now. Please contact us if you need a new motor for the PM-1.5.
  17. Greg ... I think those pics are from my A 500x. I must say, you did an awesome job in the repair/upgrade/renewal of this venerable piece of audio history. I am listening as I type these words, and happiness cannot fully describe the experience. Transcendence, rising from the Phoenix, back from the dead ... any of these are close to what this old amp experienced at Greg's expert hand. I thought about putting it on the trash heap, but Bob Carver is an audio god, and even if this is not one of his "pure" creations, it is part of the legacy so I wanted to do my part to keep it alive. So happy I did, and so pleased with the amazing result. Greg, you are a throwback to another time when quality, integrity, and doing what you say was the norm. I salute and thank you for a job very well done.
  18. Just sent in my Carver m1.0t for repair and some upgrades.Heard nothing but great things about nelionaudio!Hope they can bring her back to life!!!
  19. The A Series Carver Amplifiers were late in Carver's Production years. Although not Magnetic Field Coil amplifiers, they still inherited many of Bob's amplifier topologies that create an accurate, musical and powerful sound reproduction. Although the extent to which Bob was involved in the A series design is not know, it is unmistakably an extension of his earlier designs. The A-series amps utilize voltage rail switching to produce immense dynamic power without having to add cumbersome heat sinks. The high voltage rails are engaged by Power MOSFETS which modulate to the output signal and turn on only when the music amplitude demands, feeding the output sections that are direct coupled with multiple paralleled transistors for high current output. Featuring bridge-tied mode, gain adjustments for each channel, VU meters and 5 way binding posts, the A series power amplifiers are remarkably suitable for almost any musical set up. Our restoration addresses minor failure points, replaces all consumable parts*, calibrates the signal transfer function, and a full cleaning inside and out. We also offer an IEC socket modification, Gold RCA posts, Gold 5-way speaker binding posts, and meter light LEDs for an additional fee. Before restoration: After Restoration: Added speaker binding posts. Price: $350 + shipping Gold RCA jacks: $20 LED meter lights (color of your choice): $20 Gold 5-way binding posts: $40 IEC socket: $40 Nelion Audio 3 year parts and labor warranty included. *We do not replace the main power supply capacitors unless necessary. At the time of this writing, they are still within the life expectancy. If we must, we will quote. Contact Service
  20. Hi Nelion Audio, I recently became nostalgic for my Carver amps and was quite happy to see that there are other people that care about them. This restoration and upgrade is impressive. Vinny
  21. I have always wanted one of these little technical marvels, and the opportunity arose when I bought one to power my C-4000's time delay speakers. Greg did a marvelous job getting my M-400 working flawlessly, and his communication with me about the process was just as good as his engineering skills. Thanks Greg.
  22. Years ago, when they first were sold, I had a C-4000 but had to sell it. Recently, I wanted to return to the pre-amp but I was hesitant because of its complexity and age. Luckily, I found Nelion through the Carversite, and reading the recommendation from Bob Carver about Greg's work was all I needed to see. I bought the nicest one I could find and shipped it to Greg. I received it last week, and it sounds fantastic. I can't take my eyes off it, and can't stop listening to it. Although it is a complex piece, if you truly admire Bob Carver's work it's a privilege to have one of these as the heart of your system, and it's great to have Greg and his team to bring it back to spec and beyond.
  23. The Carver C-4000 and 4000t are similar but also very different. However, restoring them and upgrading them are similar enough to include together. These preamps require a complete overhaul after nearly 40 years of use. We replace all the electrolytic capacitors with either high temp, long life type, bi-polar or low ESR where appropriate. We tear the unit down completely and recondition all the wipers on the attenuation knobs and buttons. Some units require factory updates and power supply fixes. All of these units also require the phono amps, time delay, auto correlator and sonic holography circuits to be tuned and calibrated. The unit is also cleaned and polished, fully tested and we listen to it to ensure it sounds better than ever. The results of our work are stunning! High quality parts and expert workmanship. Gundry Filter board installed on the Sonic Holography PCB. New LEDs for the faceplate. Restore Price: $400 Gundry Filter for Sonic Holography: $40 LED color change: $40 Remote control Volume: $150 Contact Service
  24. Greg has restored 2 of my 4.0 amps and the are perfect and no turn off thump, still have 2 more to do plus 2 PM 1200's !!!
