The Sunfire 300x2 is 'the complete' audio amplifier capable of enormous power into difficult loads down to 2 ohms and never breaks a sweat. These amps are so efficient, they do not even require a heatsink. Over the years however, aging components are contributing to faulty operation - from noise, buzzing and even catastrophic failure. Restoration for the Sunfire 300x2 power amplifier includes replacement of all electrolytic capacitors, predrive stages, voltage regulation stages and power supply updates. We clean the unit inside and out, and replace the meter bulb. Power supply capacitance is also increased with our low ESR array that will also increase the amp's transient response and current delivery. The unit is fully tested to spec, driven to max power down to 2 ohms, and calibrated. This work comes with a 3 year parts and labor warranty.

Sunfire 300x2 mkII upgrade
By adjusting the transfer function and power supply, we can increase the power from 300W/ch into 8 ohms to 450W/ch into 8 ohms. This upgrade mostly maintains the load invariant capability of the 300x2, meaning that the increase in power will greatly improve the dynamic range (thus, the extra power) but it won't translate that power increase down to 2 ohms at 100% - that is, the power at 2 ohms for the 300x2 is about the same as the 300x2 mkII. A 600x2 actually has a much larger transformer that runs at a higher voltage, so the rumor that a 300x2 can be made into a 600x2 is just not true. I can make the 300x2 act like a 600x2, but the transformer is just not big enough to handle the extra power required to reach something 2400W into 2 ohms like a standard 600x2 can (for short bursts!).
This upgrade also includes upgraded hexfet transistors in the power supply, signal path upgrade, gold 5-way binding posts, and a meter LED (your choice of color - though take care, not all colors look good with that gold background - I'd recommend cool white, warm white, ice blue or green).
